Porchyard was born from a simple frustration: running rentals meant juggling separate spreadsheets, inboxes, and bank statements, and owners and managers never saw the same picture of the books.
Like many landlords, our founders started with a single rental property and a simple spreadsheet. One property became three, then ten. The spreadsheet grew into a tangled web of tabs, formulas, and color-coded rows that only one person could understand.
Bank statements piled up. Receipts got lost. Vendor invoices sat in email inboxes. And when tax season arrived, it meant weeks of reconciliation, manual data entry, and the nagging fear that something was missed.
We looked at the existing tools and found they were either built for massive property management companies with hundreds of units, or they were too simple to handle the real complexity of managing a growing portfolio. There was nothing in between.
